Iznate lies 29 kilometres from Malaga and 5 kilometres from the coast at Benajarafe which is midway between Rincon de la Victoria and Torre del Mar, at an altitude of 311 metres. It is situated within the area of Axarquia, east of Malaga, on the scenic Route of Sun and Avocadao, and has a population of 1,000.

The village is surrounded by small hills and is irrigated by the River Iznate. It has wonderful panoramic views over the mountain ranges and an agricultural economy based on the surrounding vineyards of Muscatel Grape. With the chance to taste a variety of local dishes, including gazpacho, stew, pies and honey pancakes, accompanied by wine, music and dancing, this festival summons thousands of visitors. Details of this and Iznate´s other annual festivals can be found at the fiestas link at the bottom of this page.
