The village is surrounded by small hills and is irrigated by the River Iznate. It has wonderful panoramic views over the mountain ranges and an agricultural economy based on the surrounding vineyards of Muscatel Grape. Every year a festival celebrating the grape is held in August. With the chance to taste a variety of local dishes, including gazpacho, stew, pies and honey pancakes, accompanied by wine, music and dancing, this festival summons thousands of visitors. Details of this and Iznate´s other annual festivals can be found at the fiestas link at the bottom of this page.
Of Moorish origin, Iznate´s layout has steep, narrow streets. The parish church of San Gregorio VII was built in the 16th century and houses several valuable
paintings.
