Each September, Moclinejo celebrates a Fiesta of Wine and Folklore, honouring the farmers who for centuries have cultivated the grapes in the surrounding fields. From early in the morning locals and visitors gather in the town square to taste the products of the land including Muscatel grapes, raisins, ajoblanco (cold almond soup), gazpacho (cold tomato based soup) and, at midday, paella is served. Details of Moclinejo´s other annual festivals can be found at the fiestas link at the bottom of this page.
Moclinejo is of Moorish origin although renovation and new construction has taken place. The church of Santa Maria was built in the 16th century and has beautiful Moorish arches in the belltower and roof. On Good Friday the villagers perform a passion play which attracts visitors from all over the region.
With spectacular views over the Bay of Malaga, and proximity to the coast, Moclinejo is a sought-after village to live in.
