La Concepción is the most beautiful and important tropical botanical garden in Spain and one of the best in Europe. It was created, more than a century and a half ago, by Amalia Heredia Livermore and her husband Jorge Loring Oyarzabal, the Marquis of Casa Loring, in 1850 and named after one of their daughters. |

Now aquired by Malaga City Hall, it has been restored and opened to the public. Tours of the gardens give a sensation of being deep within an elegant tropical forest - refreshing on a hot summer's day. On site there is a small museum containing Roman statues and mosaics and an archaeological exhibition. |
