The museum is housed in the old Mondragon Palace which is itself a valuable item of the collection with its beauty and variety of architectural styles. The collection has four main categories. These are:
- The archaeology of Ronda and surrounding areas
- Ethnology from the region
- Natural Parks in the Nieves, Alcornocales and Grazalema mountain ranges
- The history of Ronda
