Visible at latitudes between +90º and -40º and best at 21.00h during September. In the northern hemisphere, the constellation of Cygnus is considered a summer constellation and is visible from May to January (the last of the summer constellations to disappear) depending on the time of night.

One of the most recognisable constellations of the northern summer and autumn night sky, the constellation features a prominent asterism also known as the Northern Cross. Cygnus was one of the 48 constellations listed by the 1st century astronomer Ptolemy and remains one of the 88 modern constellations.

Deep Sky Objects:
M29 - Open Cluster, magnitude 6.60
M39 - Open Cluster, magnitude 4.60
IC 5146 - Cocoon Nebula, at magnitude 7.20, a cluster associated with nebulosity.
NGC 6811 - Open Cluster at 6.80 magnitude (one of many open clusters in this constellation).
NGC 6888 - Crescent Nebula.
NGC 6946 - Fireworks Galaxy, magnitude 8.9, where more supernovae have been observed than in any other galaxy.
NGC 6960 - part of The Veil Nebula which also includes 6962, 6979, 6992, and 6995. This is an acient supernova remnant wich covering 3 degrees.
