Visible at latitudes between +80º and -80º and best at 21.00h during July. In the northern hemisphere, the constellation of Ophiuchus is considered a summer constellation and is visible from May to October depending on the time of night.

Ophiuchus was one of the 48 constellations described by Ptolemy in Ancient Greece and remans one of the 88 current constellations.

Lying between Scorpio to the west and Sagittarius to the east, Ophiuchus is a zodiacal constellation which is not counted as an astrological sign by astrologers. This despite the Sun spending 19 days per year in Ophiuchus and only 6 in Scorpio.
