Pictor is a small and faint constellation in the southern sky, located between the brilliant star Canopus (-0.65 magnitude in the constellation of Carina) and the Large Magellanic Cloud.

Deep Sky Objects:
Star number 3 is 62.9 light years distant and surrounded by an unusual dust disk rich in carbon. Kapteyn's Star, a nearby red dwarf at the distance of 12.78 light years, is the closest halo star known.
