Gibraltar airport is situated 2 kilometres from the town centre adjacent to the frontier with Spain.
It is easier to walk across the frontier with Spain than to take a car as there are usually very long delays, sometimes lasting 4 or 5 hours, to get across the border. The Spanish border guards deliberately hold up and search the traffic due to the continued dispute over ownership. There is a continual bus service to and from Gibraltar town and taxis are also available. If visiting Spain, car hire is available in La Linea which is the town on the other side of the frontier.
Flights are connected to Heathrow, Gatwick, Stanstead and Manchester and also to Morocco at Tangiers, Casablanca and Marakesh. |
