Benaque

Benaque is a small hamlet located 29 kilometres from Malaga and 11 kilometres from the coast at Benajarafe or Almayate, at an altitude of 240 metres in the region of Axarquia.
Benaque was the birthplace of the poet, novelist and dramatist Salvador Rueda (1857-1933) whose work greatly featured Andalucian themes and to whom a small museum is dedicated in the village.

Benaque nestles in blissful countryside with a quaint, peaceful charm unique to the undiscovered Andalucia, yet is just a hop away from beachside resorts and the culture of Malaga city.
