Housed in the beautiful Palacio de los Condes de Buenavista, the museum was originally based on a large collection of work donated by Christine Ruiz-Picasso who was the artist’s daughter-in-law. Opened in 2000, other works are continually being added. The museum does house works from the entire life of Picasso not just certain periods. His earlier work is particularly interesting for most visitors. However do not expect to see his most famous works here. The ground beneath Museo Picasso Málaga preserves important evidence of Phoenician, Roman and Moorish inhabitants.
The Pablo Picasso Foundation, in Malaga, house another collection of the artist’s work in the house where he was born.
